MULTI CAMERA EDITING!
8:19
Make sure the Audio is ON for ALL CAMERAS!
Import the 3 files into Your Premiere Pro
They should be in your Trial 2 folder!
Right click in the PROJECT PANEL and create a NEW BIN
Name it MULTICAM
Now DRAG the 3 files into the BIN by selecting them and dragging them into the bin
Tip: Hold the control key down to select all 3!
Now RIGHT CLICK on the MultiCam Bin
Select:
Create Multi-Camera Source Sequence
In the dialog box, we now need to choose how to combine the clips
We will use AUDIO to sync the clips!
Make sure Audio Track Channel 1 is checked and selected!
In the same dialog box, for sequence preset make sure it is AUTOMATIC so it keeps the 1080P
Now we must choose the sequence settings for Audio
There are 3 different options when you click the dropdown menu
Camera 1: This will sync all clips with the Audio of Camera 1
All Cameras: Will mix the Audio from all cameras
Switch Audio: will switch the audio based on the clip/camera you select
So because the high quality audio comes from camera 1, we will use Camera 1 because we want to sync all of the different camera angles with the camera 1 audio track.
HINT: When we edit our New Segment, you will want to use the audio from the DJI osmo camera!
Click OK
Click OK
This creates a process Clips folder and a MultiCam source sequence
Now before we can edit, we need to create a MultiCam TARGET sequence.
Right click on the MultiCam Source Sequence
Select New Sequence from Clip
This creates a new sequence that we can edit!
So now All you see in the timeline, is camera angle 1
We need to enable multicam editing.
Click on the Toggle Multi-Camera View icon (In the Program window
If it is not visible, click the Button Editor (plus icon '+' in the bottom right of the monitor) and drag the icon (a box divided into 4 with a small '1' in the corner) onto your toolbar.
If you don't see the windows, pull the playhead to the right in the timeline!
Now in the Program window, you should see two different windows
The left window will show all the different camera angles that are in the MultiCam sequence
The Right window is the composit view (everything that you will see in the final sequence in your final project).
You can change the order of these cameras
In the Program window, select the wrench (Settings)
Select EDIT CAMERAS
You can then change the order of the cameras by dragging them up por down or even deactivate the cameras as well (Clicking the check box on or off).
For this example, let's leave the order as is!
Click OK (or cancel)
Now we will switch between the different camera angles.
Bring the playhead (blue line in the timeline) to the beginning of the sequence (all the way to the left)
Notice that camera angle 1 and 2 have gone black!
Now we will switch between the different camera angles.
Bring the playhead (blue line in the timeline) to the beginning of the sequence (all the way to the left)
Notice that camera angle 1 and 2 have gone black!
Why? the video picture has not begun yet and in this instance camera 3 is a longer video clip.
Hit PLAY
Now we can select the camera we want to switch to as the video is playing.
Let's go to Camera Angle 2...
While the sequence is playing, simply select camera angle 2 with your mouse in the Program left window. (Note the RED keyline around the Camera angle window)
Wait a few more seconds and using the same proceedure let's go to Camera Angle 3...
While the sequence is playing, simply select camera angle 3 with your mouse in the Program left window. (Note the RED keyline around the Camera angle window)
While the sequence plays, you can use the numerical keys on your keyboard to switch between the camera angles. (Example: go back to Camera 1, press 1 on the keyboard!)
Press the SPACE BAR to Stop the playback of the video
In the time line, use the slider on the bottom to ZOOM into the timeline sequence.
Tip: move the slider left to make the timeline larger.
Now we can see "Cuts" in our timeline.
These indicate the camera angle changes we had made when we switched for camera 1 to Camera 2 and so forth!
What if we want a "cut" to happen sooner?
Let's use the ROLLING EDIT TOOL (in the timeline tool box, it is in the 3rd tool folder) or press "N" on the keyboard
With the Rolling edit tool, we can drag this edit to occur earlier in the time line...
Hover over the clip in the timeline and click and pull (notice the Red tool icon)
Also notice, in the Program window the two clips that are adjusted will show!
If we want to actually change a camera angle, go back to the SELECTION tool (The arrow)
Select the clip you want to change in the timeline.
Now simply press the number on the keyboard of the camera angle you want to change it to!
(Example Select Cam 2 and press 3 on the keyboard)
Once you have all of your camera angles how we want them, we can now add any effects or color correction just like we would do with any other project!
